Canopy Partners Launches CANOPY CARE - An End-To-End Referral Platform for Medical Imaging Providers

Greensboro NC, February 2017

Canopy CARE streamlines the entire imaging referral process, making it faster and easier to receive orders, obtain authorizations, and deliver results.

Canopy Partners, a North Carolina-based healthcare technology company, just released an innovative software solution called Canopy CARE, an end-to-end automated referral management platform for radiology and imaging providers.

Canopy CARE – Clinical Automated Referral Engine - streamlines the imaging patient experience while reducing claims denials and accelerating cash collections. With Canopy CARE, administrative burdens are reduced because it automates much of the manual workflow associated with eligibility checking, payment estimation, and even prior-authorization.

“In 2016, the CAQH Index, a respected industry source, estimated that the healthcare industry could save $9.4 billion annually with electronic claims transactions. As a partner concerned with effective and efficient business practices for imaging providers, we took notice and found a solution,” noted Worth Saunders, Canopy Partners CEO.

How does Canopy CARE work?

The Canopy CARE platform is built on technology already in use at more than 500 hospitals across the country. Canopy Partners added features and tailored the software specifically for the outpatient imaging world, including a real-time dashboard to monitor the status of every patient encounter and claim.

“The physicians in our community, as well as our office staff, were getting bogged down in the sending and receiving of paperwork. The process for referring patients to us had frankly become too burdensome and lengthy a process. Something had to give. We asked Canopy to come up with an idea to help,” said Bob White, COO of Greensboro Imaging.

Greensboro NC, June 2016

In response to growing customer demand for unified radiology worklist technology

Canopy Partners, a North Carolina based healthcare technology company, has signed an agreement with Clario to distribute, implement and support its Enterprise Worklist software. The agreement broadens Canopy’s product portfolio and allows the company to fulfill increasing customer demands for enterprise worklist solutions.

“The trend in radiology is moving toward a unified reading platform. Imaging providers want to work from a single worklist and workflow solution to provide a higher level of subspecialized care,” said Stephen Willis, Canopy Partners’ Chief Technology Officer. “We believe the Clario Worklist is the best product on the market to facilitate the radiologist workflow layer.”

The Clario Worklist is a smart worklist that integrates seamlessly with any PACS, viewer, voice recognition system, VNA or EMR to build an enterprise workflow system for any radiology practice. The resulting, fully integrated system completely redefines Radiology IT.

Canopy Partners is a technology and business services provider dedicated to the medical imaging space. Canopy Partners named to North Carolina Triad’s Fast 50 list

Greensboro, NC - January 5, 2015

A fast growing healthcare technology company focused on elevating the role of medical imaging

On January 5, 2015, Canopy Partners was named one of the Triad’s 50 fastest growing privately held companies for 2014 by The Business Journal.  The Greensboro-headquartered company employees 103 people, and earned revenues of $10.6 million in 2013. In just four years since its beginning, Canopy’s client list grew to over 30 clients in ten states.

Canopy Partners is quickly becoming a nationwide provider of healthcare technology. In 2014, they added clients in nine additional states- but that’s not the only thing that’s growing. Their workforce and recruitment numbers have continued to rise as well. All of these factors contributed to the naming of Canopy Partners as one of the Triad’s Top Workplaces for three years running.

Fast 50 winners are selected through a confidential process based on nominations. Smith Leonard, an accounting firm, verifies each company’s revenues and that the U.S. headquarters is located in the Triad. Nominees are then ranked by a formula inclusive of revenue growth and percent change over the three most recent fiscal years. Eligibility requirements specify that the company must be a private, for-profit venture, must maintain U.S. headquarters in the Triad region of North Carolina, and must have completed three full fiscal years with sales of at least $2 million in the last fiscal year.

The First Annual Imaging Industry Summit

Greensboro NC, October 2014

Canopy Partners hosted the First Annual Imaging Industry Summit at Proximity Hotel

The First Annual Summit brought 65 imaging practices, facilities, and technology vendors together to share insights on industry trends and best practices. One of Canopy Partners’ main goals for the event was to help radiology groups stay at the center of the healthcare delivery model, with an emphasized theme of transformation for healthcare business.

Canopy Partners’ focus at the 1 day event was to assist the imaging sector in managing continuous adaptation and learning how to accurately demonstrate its contributions to overall outcomes as reimbursements shift from quantity to quality. At the summit, companies learned strategic solutions to achieve better patient care with improved accuracy and speed, independence and relevancy in a changing healthcare landscape, and collaborative partnerships with hospitals and referring physicians.  In addition, they were given the tools to achieve enhanced workflow and increased productivity via leveraged technologies, positioning for future growth in exam volume and revenue, and protection from encroaching threats and competition.  Canopy expects to host each future annual event with as much, if not more, peer and leader interaction, collaboration, and idea sharing as the First Annual Summit featured.

Radiology's Next Move: Bigger Data

Radiology Business Journal

April 30, 2013 - George Wiley

Canopy Partners - Greensboro Radiology in North Carolina is taking its analytics program in two directions. It is using analytics within its own practice of 55 radiologists, but it has spun off Canopy Partners, a managed-services organization that provides analytics, billing, and other services to hospitals, radiology groups, and physician practices of all kinds. Worth Saunders is CEO of Greensboro Radiology and Canopy Partners; Stephen Willis is CIO of Canopy Partners; and John A. Stahl, MD, is chair of the best-practices oversight committee at Greensboro Radiology and a shareholder in Canopy Partners. According to Stahl, Greensboro Radiology began its analytics effort with a focus on quality. The practice took radiology quality measures from CMS, the National Quality Forum, the ACR, and other sources and used them to develop its initial analytics program.

Today, Greensboro Radiology is running its analytics effort using a system (developed in-house) that makes use of a single vendor’s voice-recognition transcription system and natural language processing software to pull data from radiology reports. Other measurements come from the PACS and the billing system, but the heart of the data gathering is the voice-recognition system, deployed across all client sites. A single PACS is also used to view and distribute all images. “A single voice-recognition system leads to results from a single source,” Willis says. “Text and messaging coming out of the voice-recognition system contain the exam code, RVUs, the radiologist’s name, several different time stamps, and when the exam was started and completed.” Stahl says, “With natural language processing, the system has the potential to provide a radiologist with real-time alerts."
